Course Duration - 5 days, 3 weekends or 13 week evening course plus exam

 

A comprehensive introduction to chartwork navigation meteorology and the basics of seamanship. Invaluable for learning how to start making decisions on board and if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course

 

Previous Knowledge required - some practical experience is desirable

Minimum age 14 

Instructor : Student ratio - 1 : 6

Course content

Position fixing

Course shaping and plotting

Tidal knowledge

Use of almanacs and admiralty publications

Electronic position finding equipment

Taking and interpreting forecasts

Plotting weather systems

Weather predictions using a barometer

 

Ability after the course

Background knowledge to skipper a yacht on coastal passages day and night

 

Course cost

£350.00 includes course pack, equipment and refreshments

Deposit required at booking - 25% of course cost
